we had a fun night of getting "trick or treats" (as the boy says) and staying up way too late.
we dressed as the main characters of disney channel's phineas and ferb:
this is one of the boy's (and ours) favorite animated shows right now. it's actually a treat he asks for when it's time for a reward.
| hey! where's perry? |
| oh. there you are perry. |
a good time had by all. the boy actually understood it this year. he was happily running down the sidewalk and couldn't wait to say "trick or treats" and "thank you" at every one. he even asked me a couple times to rehearse with him what we were supposed to say. (so cute!) he also was very good at giving out the treats, too. he made sure that everyone got one... or two... or five. :) he's a very giving child.
one bummer, though. we set out a bowl of candy for the remaining trick-or-treat-ers when we were ready to go inside for the night. and within the first two minutes of leaving it out there and shutting the door, someone ran off with the whole load!! (I know that just putting a whole bowl out there is at our own risk, but really? the first two minutes?) and they were most definitely in a hurry because they left a trail of candy along our sidewalk and driveway.
kinda puts a bummer on the night. but we still had fun with doughnuts-on-a-string and watching halloween shows...

these boys are just too cute!
There aren't words for how much I love this. (You know besides the whole bowl bit because that is pretty sad and really ridiculous.) Everyone in this house enjoys Phineas and Ferb as well and many are the happy memories of us cuddling up to watch a couple of episodes. :) You guys did an awesome job dressing up like them.
Halloween is so much fun when the kids are old enough to get into it. It was the same sort of thing for Sam and Liberty this year. They didn't really care about it last year but they had fun with thier little costumes - Liberty loved saying Trick or Treat and Sam made sure he always said thank you - something that has carried over pretty well since then. :)
