birthday cele-bray-shee-ons

daddy's birthday was on easter weekend.   so he actually got a long weekend to celebrate it. the little boy was so excited that we had presents for daddy.  he loved wrapping the presents and wanted to open them right away.  we told him he had to wait for daddy to open them on his birthday the next day.  first thing when the little boy woke up, he wanted to open the presents.  I told him he had to wait for daddy.
I kept him occupied by making biscuits for breakfast

so, he waited ...

and we opened presents first thing in the morning when daddy woke up!

everyone's interested in the presents

daddy got football flags, cars legos, socks, a croquet ball set, and the complete set of calvin and hobbes comic strips.  the boys wanted to immediately start playing with daddy's new toys.

the cars legos in action

we had breakfast biscuits and eggs.  then we spent the rest of the day working in the garage.  (what a good guy to spend his birthday cleaning the garage) when we got cleaned up from our work we ordered a pizza and watched beauty and the beast. for the birthday cake, we had red velvet.  I bought it from walmart and it was oh-so-tasty.  I didn't have quite enough candles to put on the cake, but there was still enough to cover the top.  :)

we also went to chuck-e-cheese's during the week and had fun celebrating there. the little boy called it mac-n-cheese for a little bit.  and for weeks afterward when we say we are going to a restaurant, he thinks we are going to mac-n-cheese. we played games and had pizza. playing the games was fun.  I always like that ski-ball :)  the boy had such luck at the games.  especially those ones where you have to time it just right to get the token in the right hole to win tickets.  he would just slip the token in the slot leisurely at any old time he wanted and it would get straight in the hole! one time he did it without even looking and still made it. yeah, he's just good like that.
his favorite part was the cups that hold the tokens
so exciting!
the spoils of our endeavor... four plastic frogs. woohoo!

I think kids can make birthdays even more fun. Probably because they know how to give the day all the excitement and joy that is due for such a monumental occasion. It looks like it was indeed a celebration. Happiest Birtday Wishes to Jared!
