it took a couple weeks for the whole thing to be put together. we weeded it, fertilized it, de-bugged it, and plowed through the soil. then it was time to plant seeds! the boy was very good at it. he was so careful with each seed and put it in the hole it went in. we planted seeds for red peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli, and cantaloupe.
the cucumber plants and the cantaloupe sprang up rather quickly. and then took over the bed they were planted in.

when it was harvest time....
| our cucumbers |
the fruit of our labor was three cucumbers.
don't exactly know what happened. I suspect it was bugs. we also left on vacation for three weeks without watering, but I was told that the area received lots of storms enough to water it for us.
oh well, we can always try again. a perk of living in this climate. the year-round growing seasons. it's great.
I did go and clear out the weeds and such this past week and found a little pepper plant that is trying to make its way in the world. and one little lettuce plant that hid itself among the leaves of the cantaloupe plant and the weeds and the grass. hopefully those two will now get a chance to flourish.
