kindergarten at home

the big boy and I did some homeschool kindergarten together.

I decided to put some of my book-learnin degree to use.  it was fun figuring out lesson plans and activities to do.  I just looked up what our state's standards are for kindergarteners to learn and went from there.

we learned the pledge of allegiance and recited it to start off our  school day.  also with that, we learned about the United States of America and where we live.

we practiced reading and making different kinds of graphs and what patterns look like.  we made up games for handwriting practice. we listened for when words rhymed. and learned to follow a recipe. (although he has been doing that for awhile now because he loves to help with cooking)

he's really such a bright kid.  he picked up on concepts quite fast.  we went through so many things in the first months.  I really enjoyed it.  I think he did, too.  he would tell people when they asked if he went to school that he does kindergarten at home with mommy.  made me smile.
